A former USA Today reporter, I ditched the news biz to write funny mysteries. My latest is MAMA GETS HITCHED (July 2010. Mama's planning the Wedding of the Century as she ties the sacred knot of matrimony . . . for the fifth time. But when her caterer turns up dead in the kitchen of the VFW, what's a Bridezilla to do? Researching ''Hitched'' was a lot easier on my hindquarters than saddling up for 2009'S MAMA RIDES SHOTGUN. I did a six-day, cross-Florida, camping and horseback trek to study up on the setting for that one. What was I thinking?? I hope you'll have a chance to read my books, including the debut, MAMA DOES TIME(2008). They're traditional, with a Southern-fried edge: Think Agatha Christie, with a couple of cousins named Bubba. I'm a Florida native, just like my main character, Mace Bauer. And, my mama, like hers, can be a handful. But so far, I've never had to haul her butt out of jail or rescue her from a gator.
